Full-metal pads are suitable for compatible discs that allow metal pad use. They handle higher thermal loads well, though they may be noisier than organic pads and cause more wear to the disc. After setting up the brake, gradually bed in the new pair.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they become contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and brake lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, avoiding wheel lock-up.
