Brake lining

The multi-metallic ULIP Superior Metal lining combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic linings generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be noisier and cause more disc wear than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metallic pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of degraded braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowable thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not lubricate the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and brake lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location, without locking the wheel.
