Brake pad composition

The ULIP Superior Metal metallic pad combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic pads generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be louder and cause more wear to the disc than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metallic pads, and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowable thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and brake lever function. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
