Brake compound

The ULIP Superior Metal compound combines metallic ingredients and a binder. Metallic pads generally withstand heat well during repeated braking but may be noisier and cause more rotor wear than organic pads. Use a rotor compatible with metallic pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you notice poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare space for new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and brake lever operation. Bed in new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
