Brake lining

The ULIP Superior Metal multi-metal lining combines metal components and a binder. Metal linings generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be louder and cause more wear to the disc than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metal linings, and properly bed-in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel spins freely and the lever operates correctly. Bed-in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
