ULIP Superior Metal brake pads have an orange backing, a wide rectangular lining, and an upper mounting tab. The multi-metal version is supplied as a pair with a separating spring and a cotter pin.

This version requires a Shimano MT200 caliper. Compare the wide B-shape of the pads and the position of the safety pin.

Brake lining

The ULIP Superior Metal multi-metal lining combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic linings generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be louder and cause more wear to the disc than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metallic linings, and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety clip and the old pair. Following the procedure for your caliper, prepare the space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety clip. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
