Brake lining

The ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic lining combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic linings generally handle the heat from repeated braking well, but they can be noisier and wear out the disc more than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metallic linings, and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads when braking performance decreases, uneven wear occurs, or if contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retaining pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location without locking the wheel.
