Safety ring for the folding mechanism of the steering stem

The black plastic ring wraps around the stem and serves as a safety for the corresponding folding mechanism. The designed interior and locking part determine the position of the ring on the assembly.

Replacement is sensible in case of a crack or damaged locking part. Compare the shape and orientation of the ring. After installation, it must lock the intended position, but it should not hide looseness or damage to the main latch.

Installation and use

Before replacing, also check the locking lever and the contact surfaces of the mechanism. The ring must properly click into the safety position; it does not fix looseness in the hinge itself. Check the folding and locking before applying any load.
