Semi-metallic NUTT pads with cooling fins

The pair of semi-metallic NUTT brake pads features black backing plates with prominent cooling fins. Metallic particles in the resin binder form the friction material, and the fins increase the surface area for heat dissipation. Before replacing, compare the overall outline, the retaining pin hole, and the clearance above the caliper. The finned backing plate requires sufficient clearance from the caliper and other parts of the brake assembly.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, or if there is uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the pin. Do not apply grease to friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual stops in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
