Brake compound

The semi-metallic compound combines metal particles and a resin binder. The mixture represents a compromise between initial bite and heat resistance. A clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important for consistent braking.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads if braking is poor, uneven wear occurs, or if they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake's manual for the minimum allowable thickness.
• Remove the safety clip and the old pair. Following the procedure for your caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety clip. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
