Brake lining

The semi-metallic lining combines metal particles and a resin binder. The mixture represents a compromise between initial bite and thermal load resistance. A clean disc and gradual breaking-in of the new pair are important for consistent braking.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety clip and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, new pair, and safety clip. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check wheel free-spin and lever operation. Break in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
