Brake compound

The semi-metallic compound combines metallic particles and a resin binder. The mixture represents a compromise between initial bite and thermal resistance. For consistent braking, a clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you notice poor braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Always replace both pads in the same caliper; check your brake manual for the minimum allowed thickness.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, new pair, and safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads by performing several gradual decelerations in a safe area without locking the wheel.
