The 30 × 17 mm figure refers to the friction surface, not the overall outline. Before replacing, check the installed caliper and the position of the mounting tabs, especially on vehicles with upgraded brakes.

Brake compound

The semi-metallic compound combines metal particles and resin binder. The mixture is a compromise between initial bite and resistance to heat load. For even braking, a clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the locking pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the locking pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free rotation of the wheel and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual stops in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
