Brake pad composition

The semi-metallic pad combines metallic particles and a resin binder. The compound represents a compromise between initial bite and resistance to thermal stress. A clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important for even braking.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads in case of poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
