Brake compound

Semi-metallic compound combines metal particles and resin binder. The mixture represents a compromise between initial bite and thermal load resistance. A clean disc and gradual bed-in of the new pair are important for consistent braking.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads if braking performance drops, uneven wear occurs, or contamination is present. Always replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the retainer and old pads. Clean the caliper, prepare space for new pads, then insert the spring, new pair, and retainer. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check wheel rotation and lever feel. Bed in new pads with gradual braking in a safe area, avoiding wheel lock-ups.
