Before replacing, compare the overall contour, the pin opening, and the clearance above the caliper. The finned backing requires enough space from the caliper and other brake assembly parts.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you experience reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check your brake manual for the minimum allowed thickness.
• Remove the split pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the split pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, avoiding wheel lock-up.
