Brake pad material

Sintered metal pads generally handle heating and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic pads, they can be noisier and cause more disc wear. Use a disc that is compatible with metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, or if there is uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the pin. Do not apply grease to friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual stops in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
