Sintered metal compound generally handles heating and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic, it can be noisier and cause more wear on the disc. Use a disc that allows metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads in case of poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the cotter pin and the old pair. After following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the cotter pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check the free rotation of the wheel and the operation of the lever. Break in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location without locking the wheel.
