Brake pad material

ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic pads combine metal components with a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be noisier and wear down the rotor faster than organic pads. Use a rotor compatible with metal pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or if they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness allowed in the brake manual.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and brake lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area without locking the wheel.
