Semi-metallic pads for a suitable NUTT caliper

Two black mounts with side tabs and a rectangular friction surface make up a pair of semi-metallic pads. The friction area measures approximately 30 × 17 mm; a spring and safety clip are included.

The 30 × 17 mm specification refers to the friction surface, not the overall outline. Before replacing, check the installed caliper and the position of the mounting tabs, especially for vehicles with upgraded brakes.

Brake compound

The semi-metallic compound combines metal particles with a resin binder. The blend is a compromise between initial bite and heat resistance. A clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important for consistent braking.

When to replace and how to start

• Check the pads if braking performance drops, wear is uneven, or they become contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check your brake manual for the minimum permitted thickness.
• Remove the safety clip and the old pair. Prepare the space for the new pads according to the procedure for your specific caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety clip. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location, without locking the wheel.
