Black backing plates with side tabs and a rectangular friction surface make up a pair of semi-metallic pads. The friction area measures approximately 30 × 17 mm; a spring and retainer are included.

Brake pad material

The semi-metallic compound combines metal particles and a resin binder. The mixture represents a compromise between initial bite and resistance to thermal stress. For even braking, a clean rotor and gradual bedding in of the new pair are important.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check wheel rotation and brake lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheels.
