Brake Pad Material

Sintered metal pads generally handle heat and wear in wet conditions well. Compared to organic pads, they may be noisier and cause more disc wear. Use a disc compatible with metal pads.

When to Replace and How to Start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they become contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake manual for the minimum allowable thickness.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to your caliper procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe place, without locking the wheels.
