The semi-metallic compound combines metal particles and a resin binder. The mixture represents a compromise between initial grip and thermal load resistance. For even braking, a clean disc and gradual bedding-in of the new pair are important.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads when braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake instructions.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. After the procedure for your caliper, prepare the space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
