Brake Compound

The ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic compound combines metal components and a binder. Metallic pads generally tolerate heat well during repeated braking, but they can be louder and more abrasive to the disc than organic ones. Use a disc that allows for metallic pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to Replace and How to Start

• Inspect the pads if you notice poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare the space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not lubricate the friction surfaces.
• Check the free rotation of the wheel and the operation of the brake lever. Bed in the new pads by performing several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheels.
