Brake lining

The ULIP Superior Metal compound combines metallic components and a binder. Generally, metallic linings handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they may be noisier and wear the disc faster than organic ones. Use a disc that allows for metallic pads and correctly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to begin

• Inspect the pads if braking performance drops, wear is uneven, or they become contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowable thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the retaining clip and the old pair. Following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare the space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retaining clip. Do not apply grease to the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel spins freely and the brake lever operates correctly. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location, without locking the wheel.
