Brake friction material

The ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic friction material combines metallic components and a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repeated braking, but they may be louder and wear the disc faster than organic pads. Use a disc compatible with metal pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads in case of reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare space for new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
