Brake lining

The semi-metallic ULIP Superior Metal lining combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic linings generally handle heat well during repeated braking, but they can be noisier and wear the disc faster than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metallic linings, and properly bed-in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum permitted thickness in your brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not apply grease to the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed-in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
