Brake pad material

The ULIP Superior Metal metallic compound combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic pads generally handle the heat from repeated braking well, but they can be louder and cause more disc wear than organic pads. Use a disc rated for metallic pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you notice decreased braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake manual for the minimum allowed thickness.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your specific caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and brake lever function. Bed in the new pads by performing several gradual stops in a safe area without locking the wheel.
