Brake pad material

The semi-metallic compound combines metal particles and a resin binder. The compound represents a compromise between initial bite and resistance to thermal stress. For even braking, a clean disc and gradual break-in of the new pair are important.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety device and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety device. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check wheel clearance and lever operation. Break in the new pads with several gradual stops in a safe area without locking the wheel.
