Brake compound

The multi-metal ULIP Superior Metal compound combines metallic components and a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but can be louder and cause more wear to the rotor than organic ones. Use a rotor compatible with metal pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to install

  • Inspect pads if braking becomes weak, uneven, or contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake manual for minimum thickness requirements.
  • Remove the retaining pin and old pair. Follow the procedure for your specific caliper to prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, new pair, and retaining pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
  • Check for free wheel rotation and brake lever operation. Bed in the new pads by performing several gradual stops in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
