Check the order of both parts and the shape of the lower steering assembly seat. After assembly, adjust the preload: the handlebar must turn smoothly, while there should be no play in the assembly.

Steering assembly overhaul

• Check for play or binding first, along with adjustment and bearing surfaces. Replace a damaged bearing without striking the rolling parts.
• Clean the housing and assemble the parts in the correct order. Apply pressure during insertion to the race that fits the housing, and observe the prescribed lubrication.
• After adjustment, check for smooth steering rotation and lack of play. Overtightening does not correct a worn bearing.
