Brake pad compound

The metal-based ULIP Superior Metal compound combines metallic ingredients and a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repetitive braking but can be noisier and wear the rotor more than organic pads. Use a rotor that allows for metal pads, and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness in the brake instructions.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Prepare the space for the new pads according to your caliper's procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever function. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
