The metal ignition lock features a threaded mount for installation into a housing, a pair of keys, and a cable with a white two-pin connector. Turning the key controls the vehicle's corresponding ignition circuit.

Before replacing, check the opening diameter, depth behind the housing, and the terminal layout. Fasten the lock so that the entire insert does not rotate when the key is turned, preventing wire twisting.

Replacement and functional test

• Before replacing, disconnect the vehicle's power supply. Note the wiring and install the new switch in the intended position without pinching the wiring.
• Check that the buttons or key work without jamming and that the connector is correctly engaged. The handlebars must rotate without straining the cable.
• Test each function individually before riding. When the contact cuts out, also check the connector and wiring, as the fault may not necessarily be in the switch itself.
