• Replace the cable if the wire is frayed, corroded, the housing is damaged, or if it is binding. Ensure the brake lever and caliper mechanism return freely.
• Route the cable along the existing path, properly seat the housing ends, and adjust the tension at the caliper. Cut the wire only after checking the length and finish with a crimp cap.
• Check the braking, free rotation of the wheel, and sufficient slack when turning the handlebars. Re-check the adjustment after initial use, as the cable may settle.
