Brake pad friction surface

The ceramic compound forms the friction surface of the pads. To ensure even contact with the disc, bed in the new pair gradually after installation. Keep the pad clean and dry; oil or grease on the friction surface reduces braking performance.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or contamination occurs. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum permitted thickness in the brake manual.
• Follow the instructions for your mechanical caliper to remove the old pair and release the adjustment for the new pads. Install both pads and the spreader spring, then adjust the clearance against the disc. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check wheel clearance and lever operation. Bed in new pads with several gradual stops in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
