Brake lining

The ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic lining combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic linings generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be noisier and wear out the disc more than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metallic linings, and properly break in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, or in case of uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Follow the procedure for your caliper to clear space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Break in the new pads with several gradual slowdowns in a safe place, without locking the wheel.
