Brake compound

Sintered metal compound generally handles heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic, it can be louder and cause more wear on the disc. Use a disc that is compatible with metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manufacturer's manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. After following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check wheel free rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
