Superior Metal with circular friction area

The ULIP Superior Metal brake pads have orange backing plates, a circular friction area, and an extended tab. The multi-metal compound is intended for the appropriate caliper with the same shape; a flat spreader spring is included.

Before replacement, compare the circular part, the tab, and the rectangular opening for the spring. The spreader spring must seat correctly and keep the pads away from the disc.

Brake compound

The ULIP Superior Metal multi-metal compound combines metallic components and a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repeated braking, but they may be louder and wear the disc more than organic pads. Use a disc compatible with metal pads, and bed in the new pair correctly after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads in case of poor braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake manual for the minimum allowed thickness.
• According to the mechanical caliper instructions, remove the old pair and loosen the adjustment for the new pads. Install both pads and the spreader spring, then adjust the clearance at the disc. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check for wheel clearance and brake lever operation. Bed in new pads with multiple gradual stops in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
