Superior Metal in wide ZOOM shape

The ULIP Superior Metal brake pads have an orange backing, a wide rectangular lining, and an upper mounting tab. The multi-metallic version is supplied as a pair with a separation spring and cotter pin.

This version requires a Shimano MT200 caliper. Compare the wide B-shape of the pads and the position of the safety pin.

Brake lining

The multi-metallic ULIP Superior Metal lining combines metal components and binder. Metallic linings generally handle heat well under repeated braking, but they can be noisier and wear the disc more than organic ones. Use a disc that allows metal linings, and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

  • Inspect the pads if there is poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
  • Remove the retaining clip and the old pair. According to the procedure for your caliper, prepare the space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the clip. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
  • Check the free rotation of the wheel and the operation of the lever. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
