Superior Metal in wide ZOOM shape

ULIP Superior Metal brake pads have an orange backing, a wide rectangular pad, and a top mounting tab. The multi-metallic version is supplied as a pair with a spreader spring and cotter pin.

This version requires a Shimano MT200 caliper. Compare the wide B-shape of the pads and the position of the safety pin.

Brake compound

The ULIP Superior Metal multi-metallic compound combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic pads generally handle heat well during repeated braking but may be noisier and cause more wear on the disc than organic ones. Use a disc that allows for metallic pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

  • Inspect the pads if braking performance drops, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake instructions.
  • Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
  • Check for free wheel spin and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area without locking the wheel.
