Brake compound

The semi-metallic ULIP Superior Metal compound combines metal components with a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repeated braking, but they can be noisier and cause more disc wear than organic pads. Use a disc compatible with metal pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake manual for the minimum allowable thickness.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Prepare the space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
