Superior Metal in wide ZOOM shape

The ULIP Superior Metal brake pads have an orange back, a wide rectangular lining, and an upper mounting ear. The multi-metallic version is supplied as a pair with a separation spring and cotter pin.

This version requires the Shimano MT200 caliper. Compare the wide B-shape of the pads and the position of the safety pin.

Brake lining

The multi-metallic ULIP Superior Metal lining combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic linings generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be louder and wear the disc more than organic ones. Use a disc that allows for metallic linings, and properly break in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

  • Inspect the pads if braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
  • Remove the safety clip and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, new pair, and safety clip. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
  • Check wheel free-spin and lever operation. Break in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
