Brake compound

The ULIP Superior Metal semi-metallic compound combines metallic components and a binder. Metallic pads generally handle heat well during repetitive braking, but they can be louder and cause more disc wear than organic pads. Use a disc rated for metallic pads, and properly break in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads in case of reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowable thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Following the procedure for your specific caliper, prepare space for the new pads, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel rotation and lever operation. Break in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location, without locking the wheel.
