The ULIP Superior Metal brake pads have orange backs, wide rectangular friction pads and an upper mounting tab. This multi-metal version is supplied as a pair with a separator spring and split pin.

Brake pad material

ULIP Superior Metal multi-metal friction material combines metal components with a binder. Metal pads generally withstand heat well during repeated braking, but may be noisier and cause more disc wear than organic pads. Use a disc approved for metal pads and bed the new pair in correctly after installation.

When to replace and how to get started

• Inspect the pads if braking performance deteriorates or if there is uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake instructions for the minimum permitted thickness.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Following the procedure for your caliper, make room for the new pads, then insert the spring, new pair and retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel rotates freely and the lever works correctly. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe place, without locking the wheel.
