Brake pad material

The multi-metal ULIP Superior Metal compound combines metal components and a binder. Metal pads generally handle heat well during repetitive braking but can be louder and more abrasive to the disc than organic ones. Use a disc that is compatible with metal pads and properly bed in the new pair after installation.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect pads if braking performance decreases, or if there is uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowable thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and lever operation. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location, without locking the wheel.
