Brake surface material

Sintered metal pads generally handle heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic pads, they may be noisier and cause more disc wear. Ensure your disc is compatible with metal pads.

When to replace and bedding in

• Inspect pads when braking performance decreases, wear is uneven, or they are contaminated. Always replace both pads in the same caliper; check your brake manufacturer's guide for minimum thickness.
• Remove the securing pin and the old pair. Follow the procedure for your specific caliper to reset pistons, then insert the spring, new pads, and pin. Do not get grease on the friction surfaces.
• Check wheel rotation and brake lever feel. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, avoiding hard wheel-locking stops.
