Brake pad material

Sintered metal friction material generally withstands heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared with organic material, it may be noisier and cause more disc wear. Use a disc approved for metal pads.

When to replace and how to get started

• Inspect the pads if braking performance deteriorates or if there is uneven wear or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the brake instructions for the minimum permitted thickness.
• Remove the retainer and the old pair. Following the procedure for your caliper, make room for the new pads, then insert the spring, new pair and retainer. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel rotates freely and the lever works correctly. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe place, without locking the wheel.
