Brake compound

Sintered metal compound generally handles heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic, it may be louder and cause more rotor wear. Use a rotor that allows metallic pads.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you notice poor braking, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the safety pin and the old pair. Prepare space for new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the safety pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check for free wheel movement and brake lever operation. Bed in new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
