Brake compound

Sintered metal compound generally handles heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic pads, they can be noisier and wear down the disc more. Use a disc that permits metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if braking performance drops, wear is uneven, or they become contaminated. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the cotter pin and the old pair. Prepare space for the new pads according to the procedure for your caliper, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the cotter pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel spins freely and the lever operates correctly. Bed in the new pads with several gradual decelerations in a safe location without locking the wheel.
