Brake pad material

Sintered metal pads generally handle heat and wear well in wet conditions. Compared to organic pads, they may be noisier and cause more disc wear. Use a disc rated for metal pads.

When to replace and how to start

• Inspect the pads if you notice reduced braking performance, uneven wear, or contamination. Replace both pads in the same caliper; check the minimum allowed thickness in the brake manual.
• Remove the retaining pin and the old pair. Prepare the space for new pads according to your caliper procedure, then insert the spring, the new pair, and the retaining pin. Do not grease the friction surfaces.
• Check that the wheel spins freely and that the lever functions correctly. Bed in the new pads with several gradual slows in a safe area, without locking the wheel.
